STUDENT leaders comprising members from the Sayyidina Ali Secondary School’s (SMSA) Student Representatives Council, Prefects and Peer Guides recently participated in the Amazing Race at The Empire Hotel & Country Club.
Seventy-eight students, grouped into their respective departments, participated in the race.
Before the race started, Richard from The Empire Hotel & Country Club informed the participants of the safety procedures and rules to be obeyed throughout the race.
The race covered three to four kilometres of the hotel’s compound and teams were given five hours to complete all six missions in the race.
Each team was given a stick upon completing each mission and the team which has collected all six sticks in the shortest time, emerged winners.
A few of the teams managed to meet Datuk Redzuawan Ismail or better known as Chef Wan during the race. He was on his way to make a show for the launching of World Diabetes Day 2014, held at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.
The Amazing Race was won by the Sports Team, while second and third place went to the Health Safety Security Environment (HSSE) Team and the Religious Team, respectively.
The event concluded with a prize giving ceremony for the winning groups.
The main objective of the event was to strengthen the bonds between the members and to relay the importance of trust and teamwork while working as a team.
It has also taught the student leaders on time management and fast decision- making.
