A TOTAL of 130 students from Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School (SMJA) participated in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony yesterday, which was held at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kiarong.
Present as guest of honour at the ceremony was Senior Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Health, Haji Mahrub bin Haji Murni.
The annual religious activity organised by the school aims uphold the vision of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in leading the Sultanate to be Zikir Nation, while at the same time to appreciate the concept of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) as our way of life.
Aside from that, the religious event also aims to encourage the students to love and appreciate the reading of Al-Quran and practice it as part of their daily routine.
The ceremony commenced with recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by the recitation of Surah-Surah Lazim. The guest of honour later presented the students with certificates of participation.
