THE Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys Secondary School (SMALHB) held an Open Day on Wednesday, with visitors mostly coming from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Secondary School (SUAMPRIPAD), Mahad Islam Brunei and Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
The Open Day was targeted at Year 11 students from these prestigious educational institutions and served as a platform for these students to select their courses when they enter Pre-U1 in 2015.
Thirteen counters were opened especially for the day to give the appropriate information and guidance to the visitors.
Several courses were introduced to the students, with various types of scholarships on offer as well as different clubs and associations available at SMALHB.
The event was opened by Acting Principal of SMALHB, Ustazah Hjh Azizah binti Hj Mohammad.
Among the departments from SMALHB and other institutions that participated in the event were Human Resources Development and Scholarships Unit, Department of Islamic Studies, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Counselling and Career Guidance Division, Department of Schools, Student Affairs and Co-Curriculum Section as well as academic departments of SMALHB. The students generally accepted to SMALHB are from SUAMPRIPAD, Mahad Islam Brunei and Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
The courses offered at SMALHB are Syariah, Usuluddin, Lughah, Umum 1 and Umum 2.
In 2014, there were 88 male students and 127 female students, compared with 71 male students and 104 female students the previous year.
