THE launching of the three-day leadership course for the members of the Students Council of Sayyidina Husain Secondary School (SM Sayyidina Husain) took place yesterday at the Silaturrahim Hall of the Youth Centre in the capital.
Present as the guest of honour to officiate the event was Muhammad Aziman bin Haji Awang Nasir, Acting Deputy Director of Youth and Sports.
The launching ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Ustaz Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Fuad. It was then followed by a welcoming remark from Zarina binti Haji Kadir, Principal of Sayyidina Husain Secondary School.
The guest of honour, in his speech emphasised that youth development requires an effort from various parties because it is important to develop not only their academic abilities, academic studies, but also their personality and spirituality.
He also hoped that the participants will be able to take the opportunity to gain as much experiences and knowledge as possible during their course.
He also informed the participants to take the opportunity to realise their talents and abilities in becoming productive and innovative young leaders.
During the three-day course, a total of 40 students from the school will participate in various leadership activities that have been designed to encourage emerging student leaders to learn from each other, develop their individual leadership skills as well as strengthen their relationship with each other.
Among the objectives of the programme are to develop leadership capacity among the members of the Students’ Council to lead effectively and balance their personal leadership styles.
It also aims to instil a sense of responsibility in showing positive personal reflection as a role model towards their fellow schoolmates.
At the same time, the course intends to establish teamwork within an organisation to realise the mission and vision of the school.
