TAMAN Asuhan Kanak-Kanak (TASKA) Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) yesterday held a Teacher’s Day celebration that featured an array of colourful performances staged by the students as a tribute to their teachers.
As many as 508 pupils from both the morning and afternoon sessions gathered at the TASKA Hall for the celebration. Among them were His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s granddaughters – YAM Pengiran Anak Raqeeqah Raayatul Bolqiah binti Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim and YAM Pengiran Anak Raihaanah Hanaa-ul Bolqiah binti Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil.
Also present were HRH Princess Hajah Masna’s granddaughters – Pengiran Anak Adriana Haziqah Jaida Bulqiah binti Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul ‘Ali Yil-Kabier and Pengiran Nur Aleeyah Syifa binti Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammed Al-Mokhtar.
YSHHB Education Officer Dani bin Haji Jailani was guest of honour at the event, which also saw the attendance of the school’s headmistress Norbaini binti Hj Abdullah and assistant headmaster Alimas bin Hj Mohammad Ali.
The event opened with the singing of the national anthem, and was followed by a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Teacher’s Day prayers by Ustazah Norasyimah binti Hj Mohammad Yassin. Welcoming remarks were later delivered by Teacher Norbaini binti Hj Abdullah.
The performances began with Teacher’s Day speeches presented by Taman Asuhan 3 pupils in four different languages – Arabic, Malay, English and Mandarin.
Taman Asuhan 1 pupils later took the stage for the ‘If You’re Happy’ song performance. This was followed by ‘You Are My Sunshine’ song performance by Taman Asuhan 2 pupils, which included YAM Pengiran Anak Raqeeqah Raayatul Bolqiah, YAM Pengiran Anak Raihaanah Hanaa-ul Bolqiah and Pengiran Anak Adriana Haziqah Jaida Bulqiah.
The last song performance ‘Terima Kasih Cikgu’ was staged by Taman Asuhan 3 pupils and Pengiran Nur Aleeyah Syifa Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammed Al-Mokhtar.
The event continued with the presentation of tokens of appreciation by the guest of honour to the headmistress, assistant headmaster, teachers and assistant teachers.
A ceremonial cake-cutting marked the end of the Teacher’s Day celebration.
