(DPA) – If you wear contact lenses, you do not necessarily need to stop using eye drops – in fact, you can even use them while you are wearing the lenses.
Preservative-free drops containing hyaluronic acid that come in single-use vials are likely to be the best option, according to the German magazine Senioren Ratgeber. Preservatives in other eye drops could damage the lenses. If your doctor prescribes eye drops, you should immediately tell them that you wear contacts and specify what kind.
Dry eyes are a common problem, particularly for older people. Eye drops often specify on the packaging whether they are suitable for contact lens wearers, so be sure to check the bottle.
