THE Brunei-Singapore Student Leaders Adventure Camp concluded yesterday after sharing the cultures, traditions and way of life in the Sultanate while instilling a sense of responsibility among youth to preserve the environment.
Organised by the Ministry of Education through its International Unit, Department of Schools, the closing ceremony was held at the Lecture Theatre, Sports School in Kampong Pulaie.
The guest of honour, Awang Haji Abdul Rahim bin Derus, Acting Director General of Education/Acting Director of Schools, presented the certificates to camp participants from Brunei and Singapore.
A slideshow entitled “Memories of 8th BSAC 2014” and traditional dance performance were also held. Students also received awards for the ‘Most Cheerful Camper’, ‘Most Motivating Camper’, ‘Best Room’, ‘Best Buddies’ and ‘Best Camper’.
The camp, which saw the participation of 40 students (20 from Brunei Darussalam and 20 from Singapore), held recreation activities at Tasek Lama Recreational Park, camping at the Berakas Forest Reserve and paddy field activities at ‘Anjung Suok’ Kampong Bakiau, Tutong, among others.
The exchange of students was the main element in the Memorandum of Understanding agreed upon during the meeting between Brunei’s Ministry of Education and Singapore’s Ministry of Education in 2006.
