I WOULD like to offer my deepest condolences to the friends and family who have lost a special person in a recent murder at Bukit Shahbandar.
It is firstly so shocking that in a seemingly peaceful country like Brunei this can happen, and secondly horrific that the killer is at large and might strike again.
This unfortunately is not the first murder that has happened in recent years, the victims have been women, and I have never heard of updates in some cases, or the murderers identified.
Could the police and investigative unit please update the public on how they are trying to identify the suspects of these murders?
A couple of sketches have been released but the police have insisted that they are “persons of interest” and not suspects.
A couple was murdered in Thailand recently, and since then police are abuzz with DNA testing, cross-checking of the people known to be in that area at the time and investigating all leads.
Here however, it feels like the case is somehow closed and the public is not informed of the processes police are undertaking to serve justice to the victim’s family and friends.
It definitely makes me feel less safe knowing there are criminals walking amongst us, and also that our police can’t reassure us that they are doing everything they can to find them.
