Sepak Takraw Championship fosters healthy competition

THE Co-Curriculum Education Department, Ministry of Education through its Tutong District branch held a Sepak Takraw Championship from May 16-17 for Cluster 5 secondary schools, with Muda Hashim Secondary School as the host at Tutong Sports Complex.

Four schools participated in categories B and C – Muda Hashim Secondary School, Sayyidina Othman Secondary School, Tanjong Maya Secondary School and Mahad Islam Brunei.

Prizes and participation certificates were presented by the Village Head of Kg Sengkarai, Tutong, Haji Mumin bin Abdul Razak, the guest of honour.

Mahad Islam Brunei was declared the winner of Category B followed by Tanjong Maya Secondary School, Muda Hashim Secondary School, and Sayyidina Othman Secondary School.

Ahmad Hijrah Syazani bin Mohammad of Mahad Islam Brunei received the Best Player Award for Category B.

Muda Hashim Secondary School was declared the winner of Category C followed by Mahad Islam Brunei, Tanjong Maya Secondary School, and Sayyidina Othman Secondary School.

Muhammad Amirul Nur Shah bin Abdullah of Muda Hashim Secondary School received the Best Player Award for Category C.

Only boys were allowed to participate and every school was only allowed to send one team of five, including reserve players.

The event aimed to foster closer ties among students and promote healthy competition as well as enhance physique, spirituality and discipline.
