PROFESSIONALS need to notify their insurers about any potential errors and mistakes to deal with legal cases effectively, said a senior underwriter at a global insurance firm recently.
She was speaking at a seminar organised by the Surveyor Division of the Brunei Association of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) and Takaful Brunei Am Sdn Bhd (TBA).
“Insurers can better deal with these cases,” said Lauren Wong, a senior underwriter at Liberty International Underwriters, backing up his abovementioned statement, because it saves professionals from the trouble of managing the issue personally.
Professional services are in high demand these days, hence the need to know more about professional indemnity, said PUJA’s Vice-President Mohd Shafie bin Hj Mohd Yusof.
It is important for professionals to understand the liability as a professional, the insurance coverage and loop holes of professional indemnity insurance. A full understanding of the personal indemnity (PI) insurance will assure professionals that the services they provide are covered in the event of recourse, he added.
Mohd Shafie highlighted that not many know what PI insurance does or covers and that is why they have Takaful to support them.
