INSTITUT Teknologi Brunei (ITB) yesterday hosted a seminar on ‘Internet of Things (IoT),’ seeing ITB Acting Vice Chancellor Associate Professor Dr Hjh Zohrah binti Hj Sulaiman as the guest of honour.
Jerry Lucas of CISCO delivered his presentation on the subject at the ITB Lecture Theatre 2, whose audience members included Deputy Permanent Secretary (IT and E-Government) at the Prime Minister’s Office Adi Shamsul bin Hj Sabli.
IoT refers to the interconnection of uniquely identifiable computing devices that are capable of transferring data through the Internet without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
The IOT Research Cluster in ITB focuses on solving real industrial problems pertaining to health, energy, transportation, environment and the government, among others, by developing smart and intelligent systems that mimic the job of humans, thereby delivering a smart solution.
Jerry Lucas is responsible for CISCO’s ‘Internet of Everything (IoE)’ solutions in Asia, Japan, China and the India region. He brings over 20 years of IoT/IoE, wireless, collaboration and Internet applications experience to CISCO.
Prior to joining CISCO, he held various positions in companies such as Verizon Business Solutions, Varaha Systems, RedSky Technologies, Network Associates Inc and numerous CISCO reseller and development partners covering sales, business development, systems engineering, customer support, product management and channels development positions.
