THE Varsity Silat Club of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) yesterday organised SANGGA self-defence seminar themed “Empowering Warrior Mindset”.
The seminar was aimed at exposing participants on the effectiveness of self-defence techniques.
The four-hour seminar touched on three main aspects, such as BEST (Basic Essential Silat Training), SARD (SANGGA Automatic Response Drill) and ST (Strategic Thinking), where participants were educated on its concepts and principles.
During the seminar, participants were also taught basic training moves on defence and locking, specifically in the form of actual combat.
Overall, the SANGGA self-defence seminar managed to approach its six main principles which explained SANGGA as all natural, simple, and effective; its agility and flexibility; values and benefits of the situation; to be brave in distance combat; to grasp the true warrior spirit, and increase awareness of self-defence.
The seminar ended with a certificate presentation to the participants and it was hoped that more such seminars will be held in the future.
