SEATTLE (AFP) – Amid the furor over the NFL’s handling of recent domestic abuse incidents, there was a heart-warming moment in Seattle Sunday as Seahawk DeShawn Shead proposed to his girlfriend.
The cornerback proposed at midfield shortly after Seattle’s 26-20 overtime win over Denver and she accepted, the team reported via Twitter.
Almost all of the 68,000 fans had left the CenturyLink Field but the Palmdale, California, native had several of his teammates cheering him on and filming the happy event which took place on the Seahawks logo at the 50-yard line.
Dressed in black slacks and a blue checkered dress shirt, 25-year-old Shead got down on one knee and popped the question to his girlfriend who was wearing a Seahawks jersey.
“Congrats to @dshead24 and his new fiance Jessica! 50 yard line proposal… she said yes. Entire #LOB there to celebrate,” the team said on Twitter — LOB a reference to Seattle’s “Legion of Boom” defensive unit.
After attending Portland State University, Shead signed with the Seahawks as a free agent in 2012.
