SOME 60 participants who attended a two-day workshop on Reproductive Health, which was held for school leaders in conjunction with World AIDS Day, yesterday received certificates of appreciation at a closing ceremony at the Al-A’fiah Hall, Ministry of Health.
Acting Director-General at the Ministry of Education, Haji Abdul Rahim bin Haji Derus, presented the certificates.
The workshop was organised by the Health Promotion Centre in collaboration with the Co-Curriculum Development Department of the Ministry of Education and the Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council as part of a continuation of measures to raise awareness of prevalent health issues and support initiatives to address social problems among students.
Participants heard talks and watched presentations on sexually transmitted diseases including HIV and AIDS as well as teenage pregnancy in Brunei Darussalam.
A sharing session and discussion on steps that have been and are being implemented by government and non-government agencies combating social issues including risky lifestyle behaviours then ensued.
Results of the workshop will be used to coordinate appropriate action plans to tackle social problems.
