A GROUP of 10 employees from Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Brunei recently spent an afternoon with 30 senior citizens from the Lambak Elderly Recreational Centre for a brisk walk at Tasek Lama in the capital.
Senior Corporate Affairs Manager of SCB, Marilyn Graeme said, “Having an active lifestyle is important and we’re delighted to be able to share this afternoon with these senior citizens. Standard Chartered Bank’s employee volunteering programme enables our employees to spend valuable time for initiatives such as these, which they feel passionate about.”
At SCB, employees are encouraged to take time off to volunteer in community works and it is one of the few organisations that provide volunteer leave for its employees for such purposes. The bank also promotes skills-based volunteering as a means for employees to utilise their professional skills in a socially positive way.
The group began the afternoon with a light stretching session before hiking up the path.
