A GROUP of Standard Chartered Bank Brunei staff spent an afternoon decorating and visiting the residents of the Seria Old Folks Home in Belait District yesterday as part of the bank’s volunteering initiatives.
The staff volunteers under Standard Chartered’s Employee Volunteering Programme put up festive decoration around the centre and donated goodies to the residents while engaging with them over tea.
Marilyn Graeme, Head of Corporate Affairs said, “Our staff enjoys giving back to the community through volunteering efforts such as this.
“By activating our Employee Volunteering Programme among our staff, we aim to give back 150 days of volunteering days this year.”
Standard Chartered Bank is one of the few organisations that actively encourage its staff to take time off work to volunteer in the community by giving all staff three days of employee volunteering leave in addition to their annual leave.
With more than 89,000 employees in 70 different markets, Standard Chartered believes that these volunteering initiatives will have a significant positive impact across its global footprint.
