STANDARD Chartered Bank (SCB) yesterday held a forum entitled ‘Venturing Abroad – SMEs Beyond Brunei’ which saw Dato Paduka Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Vishal Shah, Regional Head, Commercial Clients, Asean at Standard Chartered Bank, discussing their expert viewpoints on the topic. The forum was moderated by Lai Pei Si, CEO of SCB Brunei.
The forum began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat.
In her welcoming speech, Eliza Abdullah, Head of Business Banking of SCB Brunei, said, “SCB is one of the international banks in Brunei that has a presence in all 10 Asean member countries. The forum was led by Dato Paduka Haji Ali bin Haji Apong and Vishal Shah. It concluded with a question-and-answer session.
Last year, SCB partnered with the Brunei Economic Development Board to offer awareness programmes for SMEs covering a wide range of topics such as communication strategy, marketing, human resource and business financials through 15 workshops. The bank also launched Renminbi capabilities for trade through a range of products and services recognising the increasing importance of Renminbi becoming a major global currency.
