IN ITS continuous efforts to spread awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention, Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) conducted an HIV Awareness Programme.
Held at The Brunei Hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan, the event was attended by more than 20 employees of the hotel.
Present to deliver talks at the event were Hafiz Hasheim, Manager Corporate Affairs and Cecilia Phan, Brand and Marketing Manager of SCB.
Hafiz Hasheim said, “Standard Chartered’s HIV Awareness Programme is aimed at sharing unbiased facts about HIV and AIDS in order to bust the myths surrounding the disease which has affected millions around the world. Education continues to be a very important key to reducing the rate of infection as it gives people the correct information to make better informed lifestyle decisions.”
Andy Goh, General Manager of The Brunei Hotel said, “The programme was very interesting and although we have heard about HIV and AIDS through various media, this face-to-face awareness session gave us opportunities to ask questions about HIV which we normally wouldn’t do due to the stigma surrounding the topic.”
As part of the ‘Living with HIV’ programme, one of SCB’s main corporate social responsibilities, the bank continues to ensure its staff members to be educated on HIV/AIDS.
In a statement, the bank also welcomed requests to deliver this free educational programme for interested educational institutions and organisations. For further enquiries, contact Hafiz Hasheim at 2366095.
