SAYYIDINA Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School conducted ‘Sahsiah Islammiyah Programme: Shaping Islamic Individuality Within Yourself’ recently hosted by the Student Welfare Unit.
The programme was a student development initiative which began in 2013, previously coordinated by the Co-Curriculum Activity Department. The event involves students from Year 7 and Year 11.
The objective of the programme is to answer the call of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah to transform the country into Zikir Nation. It is also to embrace the Ministry of Education’s aim to provide a holistic education to students, one that will promote the nurturing of an Islamic identity within themselves.
The principal of Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School, Hajah Sapiah binti Pengarah Haji Buntar, gave students a short advisory speech.
Such programmes aim to help students stand against the negative influences that go against the Islamic way of life, thus shaping a well-adjusted religious attitude.
