A DINNER reception was held at Momo Restaurant, StarLodge Hotel last Tuesday, hosted by Victor A Seleznev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Brunei, to commemorate Brunei’s participation in the International Tilawah Al-Quran Competition held in Moscow recently.
The event started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the winner of the XV Moscow International Competition 2014, the local Qari, Mohammad bin Ali.
The event saw a video presentation of outstanding mosques in Russia and Brunei as well as a photo exhibition gallery of the ‘Muslim Festivities in Russia’.
In his welcoming remarks, Victor A Seleznev mentioned that the dinner was intended to envisage a detailed exchange of views on the ways of further development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the Muslim communities of the two countries.
Present as the guest of honour was Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Religious Affairs.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar; the Permanent Secretary at the MoRA, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yussof; Ra’es of Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPUSB), Ustazah Dr Hajah Masnon binti Haji Ibrahim; Mohammad bin Ali and his father, Ali bin Hassan and the winner’s mentor, Haji Abdullah bin Haji Lakim.
