RADIO Televisyen Brunei (RTB) yesterday held a ‘Peralihan ke Era Penyiaran Digital’ roadshow at the Belait RTB Station, which was aimed at increasing the public’s awareness on the digital system which enables the delivery of high quality broadcast.
Present as special guests were YB Haji Mohammad Shafiee bin Ahmad, member of the Legislative Council and Village Head of Kampong Lumut 1; YB Haji Mohammad Yusof bin Haji Dulamin, member of the Legislative Council and Village Head of Kampong Mumong; Haji Haris bin Haji Othman, Belait District Officer, and Pehin Datu Paduka Raja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Shari bin Ahmad, Acting Penghulu of Mukim Melilas.
According to a briefing delivered by the Deputy Director of RTB, Pengiran Haji Mahari bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rajak, the main objective of the roadshow was to inform the public about RTB’s preparedness in the direction of digital broadcast and the benefits of digital broadcasting.
This was illustrated with an array of mini booths set up by different divisions under RTB at the event, which displayed information regarding RTB’s services and programmes as well as details about their migration from analogue to the digital broadcasting era.
The event also saw the official launching of the Belait District Radio Club by Haji Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) at the Prime Minister’s Office.
In a speech, Pengiran Ahmad bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, head of Radio Programme of RTB, explained that the aim of the club’s establishment is to uphold the Sultanate’s aspirations towards 2035 in advancing the youth to develop creativity and innovation that mirror the philosophy of Brunei based on the concept of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).
Pengiran Ahmad also added that the Radio Club project will be conducted on a phase-by-phase basis, with the Belait Radio Station acting as the pilot station, and will eventually involve Tutong Radio Station, Temburong Radio Station and Brunei-Muara Radio Station.
Aside from informative booths held at the roadshow, visitors can also enjoy performances, games and activities organised by committee members, and various stalls selling food, beverages, clothing and accessories.
Also present during the event were Haji Mohammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu, Director of RTB, government officials, heads of mukims and villages, school principals, as well as students.
