BRUNEI students in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland expressed their gratitude for the golden opportunity to meet and greet His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha and other members of the royal family during the Get-Together Ceremony with citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam last Sunday.
Ak Md Nur Amin bin Pg Nordin, a Masters in Corrosion Engineering student at the University of Manchester said it was an honour to meet His Majesty in the UK.
“When they announced that His Majesty was going to come and visit, I didn’t want to miss this great opportunity to meet His Majesty who cares so much about the people of Brunei.”
Sarah binti Hj Abdul Mutalif, a final year student in BEng Systems and Control Engineering at the University of Sheffield said, “It is my third and final year in the UK and Alhamdulillah I am blessed with His Majesty’s Junjung Ziarah (get-together) in all my years here.
“The Junjung Ziarah never gets old. It’s the feeling of home in a faraway land. Reunion with peers ranging from primary all the way to college, smiling to familiar faces, meeting Bruneians all in one place.
“One’s heart is at ease knowing that His Majesty goes all out to connect with the students despite his busy schedule. It makes me more determined to serve the country. May Allah the Almighty bless our Ulil Amri and may the youth of UK bring about good changes to our country. Long live His Majesty,” she added.
Meanwhile Mu’izz Khalid, BA International Relations and Politics (Final Year) student at the University of Sheffield said it is a privilege to be able to attend the event for three consecutive years, since his first year studying in the UK.
“The event gave us a great opportunity to meet His Majesty and the royal family. Not only has it made us realise how lucky we all are to have His Majesty as our King but ultimately, we are all proud to be Bruneian.
“Moreover, the event has helped to reunite old friends, which has contributed to the rekindling our friendship,” he added.
