DPMM FC have not retained the services of long-serving captain Rosmin Kamis in the 2018 squad for the upcoming S League season, according to the club’s website.
The DPMM FC stalwart is the biggest omission from the team with the likes of Maududi Hilmi Kasmi, Aminuddin Zakwan Tahir, Hazwan Hamzah, Haizul Rani Metussin and Khairul Anwar Abdul Rahim also not retained.
The squad comprise 22 local players and foreign import Mojtaba Esmaeilzadeh with two more additions expecting to fill in the foreign quota.
Rosmin, who joined DPMM FC in 2004, has served the club with distinction having spent 11 years of his career, leading the team to a first-ever S League title in 2015.
“Finally, the time is up! Alhamdullilah, huge thanks to the Club Chairman, Vice Chairman, the management, coaching staff for giving me the chance, being with the club since 2004 and the role as captain a year after,” Rosmin posted in Facebook.
“It’s been a great journey that I will not forget. And also to my wife, kids, family and friends, thank you for never giving up supporting after all these years… Because all of you, I’ve become a player that I am.
“To DPMM FC 2018 players, good luck and do some great achievements for this year, Insya Allah,” the message concluded.
Rosmin, known as ‘Bobby’ to team-mates, management and coaching staff, made over a century of appearances for the ‘Gegar Gegar’ men. The former captain was also an influential member of the team that won the Singapore League Cup in 2009, 2012 and 2014.
Maududi and Aminuddin both played significant roles to the club’s title-winning charge with the latter hugely impressive in the first part of the season and the former towards the end of the season.
Aminuddin burst into the scene in the opening weeks of the 2015 campaign maintaining a regular starting place while Maududi, together with Helmi Zambin, worked their way up to the first team in the final weeks of the season.
Aminuddin made 22 appearances operating mostly as right back in his debut season but rarely featured for the team since appearing in one league game only in 2017.
Khairul Anwar was one of four local recruits brought in to the team ahead of the 2015 season but has not made an impact featuring mostly as substitutes in five league appearances.
The ‘Gegar Gegar’ men brought on Haizul Rani and Hazwan Hamzah during the transfer window last season to beef up their defence.
