BERLIN (AP) – Brazilian midfielder Ronny scored with two free kicks, the second in injury time, to salvage a 2-2 draw for Hertha Berlin at Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Friday.
Marc-Oliver Kempf opened the scoring for Freiburg with a header from Jonathan Schmid’s corner on the half hour, only for Ronny to equalise with a superb free kick six minutes later. The Brazilian sent the ball over the wall and inside the top right corner from a central position.
Felix Kraus thought he’d scored the winner in the 79th minute, when Karim Guede laid the ball back from Vladimir Darida’s cross. Hertha goalkeeper Thomas Kraft got a hand to the shot but was unable to prevent it going in off the right post.
Hertha midfielder Nico Schulz was then shown a red card for a tackle on Mike Frantz in the 93rd minute, but Ronny scored again with a deflected free kick three minutes later. Both sides had been looking for their first win of the season.
