FOLLOWING a previous adjournment, a road traffic case was heard last Saturday. The defendant, YAM Pengiran Muda Abdul Mu’min, pleaded guilty to all the 12 charges.
However, Senior Magistrate Haji Nabil Daraina bin Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin rejected the guilty plea of the defendant on one of the charges under Section 211 of the Penal Code on a technicality and reserved his ruling for conviction on four other charges under Section 3(2) Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Act, Chapter 90.
The matter will be heard again on January 21, 2015 for the court’s decision pertaining to the charges under the Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Act, Chapter 90 and for the defendant to submit his mitigation on the offences that he has been convicted for.
The defendant was represented by Defence Counsel Balendran Balasingham of Messrs Ho & Siong, and DPPs Hjh Anifa binti Hj Abd Ghani and Dk Nurul binti Pg Rosli appeared for the Public Prosecutor.
