MEMBERS of the public can now get some insight into road safety initiatives and traffic laws at the Road Safety Carnival 2015 that is taking place at Pusat Belia until tomorrow.
The event is organised by Politeknik Brunei’s School of Business in cooperation with Brunei Darussalam National Road Safety Council (BDR-SC).
The event’s recent launching ceremony was officiated by Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yusof, Perma-nent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications (MinCom) and the Chairperson of BDRSC, who also toured the booths and spoke to many of the vendors.
In his welcoming remarks, Politeknik Brunei’s Acting Director Denis Ho Mun Tai said, “The event is a project for final year students from the third intake of Politeknik Brunei… to ensure that students can apply what they have learnt to real events… (as well as) to raise awareness on road safety among youth.”
Also present at the launch were Dr Hj Supry bin Hj Awg Ladi, the Director of Land Transport, Awg Rafitra bin Hj Razak, Acting Senior Engineer from the Public Works Department’s (PWD) Road Maintenance Section, and other officials from MinCom.
Prizes were also presented to the winners of a colouring contest – Dk Nurbazilah Fauziah from the Raja Isteri Fatimah Primary School for Cate-gory ‘A’ and Victoria Wee Poh Yee from Pusar Ulak Primary School for Category ‘B’.
