FOLLOWING the Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) procession this Saturday (Jan 3) at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, the Royal Brunei Police Force informed of road closures (map below) around the capital.
Roads will be closed at 6.30am till the procession is completed. Among the main roads include the traffic light junction at Jln Tutong opposite Badi’ah Hotel, traffic lights infront of Magistrate’s Court, infront of the Fire Station and along Jubilee Park, traffic lights at Jln Kumbang Pasang near STPRI heading towards St Georges School, in front of Jln Bendahara (near Chung Hwa Middle School) including Jln Jawatan Dalam/Jln Kebangsaan, Jln Sekolah/Jln Tasek and big TV screen.
Other roads closed include traffic lights at Jln Stoney, Jln Kianggeh (Jubilee hotel), Jln Elizabeth II, Jln Kianggeh opposite Chinese temple and traffic light at Jln Residency/ Jln McArthur.
More importantly are road closures along the main areas namely Jln McArthur, Jln Sultan and traffic light at Jln Roberts, Jln Elizabeth II, Jln Stoney, Jln Sultan, Jln Pemancha and along Jln Residency towards Kota Batu near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade building. Parking lots around the capital should be left vacant a day before the procession as these roads will be used during the procession. These include along Jln Tasek, Jln Kianggeh/Jln Mc Arthur and Jln Sultan, Jln Stoney/ Jln Hj Basir and Jln Sekolah.
The police will remove any cars parked at these roads. Procession participants who use buses will be offloaded at designated areas. For those coming from Jln Kebangsaan, they will be offloaded at Jln Bendahara, Jln Stoney, Jln Padang and Jln Kumbang Pasang.
For those coming from Jln Tutong and Jln Gadong, their buses will offload them at Jln Stoney and Jln Bendahara. All buses will be parked at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah mosque parking lot.
The police will not hesitate to take actions against motorists who park their vehicles at prohibited areas and motorists are advised to use alternative roads should they wish to go to the capital such as the Hassanal Bolkiah Highway, Jln Tutong towards old Muara road, Jln Kumbang Pasang towards Jln Menteri Besar and Jln Sg akar as well as Jln Gadong.
