KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) – An allocation of RM226.775 million was distributed to assist 1,265 schools in Sarawak throughout this year.
Second Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan said it included operational expenditure for 783 schools and a sum under a special stimulus package for 482 other schools.
“We are still looking for ways to improve the assistance from time to time. This is a significant shift in the Malaysian Education Development Blueprint.
“Ten aspects were taken into account when the allocation was made, namely the physical structure, classrooms, toilets, treated water, tables and chairs, work space for teachers, blackboards or white ones, ICT tools and Internet access.
“All these we will try to finish as soon as possible in the first phase of the PPPM next year,” he said in reply to a supplementary question from Datuk William Nyalau Badak (BN-Lubok Antu) in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
Also this year, RM5 million was spent to improve the teachers’ quarters in educational institutions in Sarawak, he added.
