I VISITED a relative in RIPAS Hospital last weekend and although I was impressed with the friendly nurses and the upgrades done to the wards, my surprise and disappointment came when I had to visit the toilet.
Broken doors, cracked ceilings, fused light bulbs, wet floors, flushes that do not work, grime-stained walls … the list goes on. I couldn’t even open the door without cringing since I couldn’t wash my hand due to a faulty faucet. Such unhygienic conditions really should be looked into especially in a place like a hospital where hygiene is a priority.
