A 37-YEAR-OLD local man was yesterday produced in court to face a charge of possession of a rifle. Investigations are still ongoing.
No plea was taken from Adinin bin Puasa who is being remanded at the Bangar Police Station until the next mention of the case on October 7.
Magistrate Hajah Ervy Rahman heard allegations put forward by DPP Dk Nurul Pg Rosli against the defendant, one of which was being in possession of a four-foot five-inch-long rifle (without a licence) in the vicinity of Customs and Immigration Quarantine Security, Ujung Jalan in Temburong at about 3.03pm on October 2.
The defendant faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of no less than five years and not exceeding 15 years, and whipping with no fewer than three strokes and not exceeding 12 strokes.
