THE Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Brunei Centre organised a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) talk recently at the Public Works Department (PWD) Headquarters’ Atria Simpur.
The talk – delivered by Bill Jones, the RICS’ Managing Director for the Asean region – focused on the International Standard for Surveyors.
It covered the move by professional organisations such as the RICS towards international standards in three areas – Valuation, Measurement and Ethical. RICS members are expected to comply with these standards in their professional practice.
Due to the variety of measurement methods employed, it can be difficult for the property users, investors, occupiers and developers to accurately compare space.
Hence, by adopting the international standards, it will create consistency, a more transparent marketplace, greater public trust, stronger investor confidence and increased market stability.
