IN LIGHT of a complaint lodged claiming that I-Lotus Restaurant, a famous Chinese restaurant in Brunei, was serving shark products, the owner and management of I-Lotus Restaurant yesterday issued a statement strongly denying the claim.
It was stated that the owner and board of management of I-Lotus Restaurant, Brunei Darussalam, strongly denies the serving of shark’s fin soups or any shark related products in all its restaurants. I-Lotus Restaurant already withdrew shark’s fin and shark products from its menus in 2013 since the government’s ruling to ban the catch, landing and sales of sharks or shark products in the country.
The owner and management would like to express with regret that the old menu that contains shark’s fins and shark products were not duly withdrawn from their website (www.ilotusrestaurant.com). The matter has been rectified in strong support of the Government of His Majesty’s initiative. The owner and management also apologies for any inconveniences and confusion caused by the oversight. Fisheries Department personnel have inspected the restaurant and found no shark related products.
The owner and management would also like to reiterate its strong commitment in corporate and social responsibilities in support of any government’s initiatives. For further inquiries on the matter, concerned individuals can contact Sofian at 2422466 or 2440171.
