A TEACHER’S Day celebration for religious teachers in Brunei’s ‘IIB’ zone was held yesterday at the main hall of the Islamic Dakwah Centre.
The event was organised by committee leaders of the ‘IIB’ zone in cooperation with the Training and Scholarship Department and Inspectorate Department of Islamic Studies at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).
The guest of honour was Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Haji Harun bin Haji Junid.
The event began with the recitation of verses from Al-Quran by Mohammad Ayob bin Ali bin Dato Mohd Yassin from the Dato Mohd Yassin Religious School.
The event continued with an opening remark from Khairul @ Muhammad Zakwan bin Haji Julay, the Chairman of JKPSSU, who highlighted that the objectives of the event are to give recognition and appreciation to the contribution of religious teachers.
Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar then presented a special talk followed by a Tausyeh performance from religious teachers to help enliven the atmosphere.
Awards and prizes were presented to Hajah Safiah binti Md Jair from Anggerek Desa Religious School and Rohayati binti Haji Abd Rahman from Pengiran Muda Abdul Azim Religious School.
Four teachers also received awards for their excellent contribution in teaching Al-Quran and other aspects of the Islamic faith. They are: Hartini Hayati binti Haji Masri from Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei Religious School, Ruhaiedah binti Hj Md Hussien from Dato Mohd Yassin Religious School, Kairol Shah bin Hj Mohd Salleh from Batu Marang Religious School and Pg Hjh Raimah binti Pg Hj Chuchu from Pengiran Anak Puteri ‘Azeemah Ni’matul Bolkiah Religious School.
One of the recipients, Rohayati, expressed her gratitude and happiness to those who have supported her throughout her 26-year career.
