MUSLIMS in the Sultanate will observe the new year 1436 Hijrah in a week and the nation is geared up to mark the celebration in remembering the migration of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Makkah Al-Mukarramah to Madinah Al-Munawwarah.
The new Hijrah year will fall on Friday, October 24, and will begin with the reading of the end-of-year 1435 Hijrah prior to Maghrib prayer. This will be followed by the reading of beginning of the new-year 1436 Hijrah which will be held after the call for Maghrib prayer.
This will be held simultaneously at mosques, suraus and prayer halls across the country. Muslims are welcome to attend and glorify the celebration and to gain blessings from Allah the Almighty.
The theme this year is ‘United to support the laws of Allah’.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religious Affairs will hold several side events that include a learning campaign at mosques, suraus and prayer halls nationwide, with special focus on Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kg Kiarong.
They will also be a presentation of prizes for babies born on 1st of Muharram 1436H to be held on 2nd of Muharram 1436 Hijrah – corresponding to Sunday, October 26, at all government hospitals. A premier forum to mark the new year 1436 Hijrah will also be held in Temburong.
