HENGYI Industries yesterday organised a 3rd Stakeholder Engagement Dialogue involving several government agencies and local communities around Mukim Serasa. The event was held at Hengyi’s Muara site office and was attended by officers from the Energy Department of the Prime Minister’s Office, Brunei-Muara District Office, Town and Country Planning, Authority of Building Construction Industry, Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, Marine Department, Ports Department, Fisheries Department, Royal Brunei Police Force, Labour Department, Immigration and National Registration Department, Royal Brunei Navy as well as Penghulus, Village Heads and Mukim Serasa Consultative Council members.
The main aim of the dialogue session was to update relevant authorities and the surrounding communities on Hengyi’s refinery project at Pulau Muara Besar (PMB) and its implications, whilst providing a platform for local communities to voice their concerns.
“We want everyone to be appraised of Hengyi’s project development and ongoing activities at Pulau Muara Besar. We are starting some major dredging activities at the Western Channel area of PMB opposite the Muara Port hence we need to ensure all stakeholders and communities surrounding Mukim Serasa are fully aware of the activities,” said Sheikh Rashid Salam, Vice President for Corporate Services at Hengyi Industries.
A presentation was made by a personnel from Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd followed by a question-and-answer session.
Hengyi will be conducting quarterly Stakeholder Engagement sessions to update relevant agencies and communities on the progress of the refinery project at PMB.
