AS THE nation marks Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) birthday on Saturday, a full rehearsal was held for the religious celebration at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque (Taman SOAS) yesterday.
Attending the event was the Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara, YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar. Also in attendance were Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abd Rahman and his deputy, Pengiran Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar.
In an interview with Acting Senior Religious Education Officer, Cikgu Aslin Hj Mohd Noor in his capacity as the co-secretary of the celebration committee, he disclosed that a total of 132 teams from both government and private sectors will be participating in this year’s Maulud Nabi celebration.
This year’s theme “Mencintai Rasulullah Sallallahu’ Alaihi Wassalam”, the participating teams are divided into five categories namely Primary School/ Religious/Arabic Preparatory and Private, Secondary School/Arabic/College/Higher Learning Institution/Private, Ministries/Government Departments, Association and Private Sector and Mukim/Village and Mosque Takmir categories.
He highlighted that the Primary School/Religious/Arab Preparatory and Private Category will only be performing at Taman SOAS while the remaining four categories will be judged through participation, banner, parade and ‘Selawat’.
Winners from each category will walk away with cash prizes, trophies as well as certificates of participation.
The executive committee has also outlined back-up plans in case of heavy downpours during the celebration. If rains stops before 9am, the mass gathering will march as usual but it stops before 10am, the gathering will continue without the march.
If the downpours continue for more than two hours, the gathering and marching will be cancelled but is subjected to the Executive Committee in their capacity as the Adviser for Celebrations in the Islamic Calendar.
They will hold a meeting to justify whether the celebration should proceed.
