THE Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) recently launched the sales of ‘red ribbon’ brooches in commemoration of World AIDS Day.
The brooches are available at all JPMC counters. Proceeds from the sales will go towards the Brunei Darussalam Aids Council (BDAC).
“This campaign aims to raise public awareness on AIDS and HIV as well as to engage our community towards promoting charitable activities. Last year, we successfully collected a total of BND1,158 from the red ribbon sales. We are positive that we will be able to exceed that amount this year,” said the Marketing Officer at JPMC, Ak Danny.
“BDAC has been working hard in its educational efforts to enhance public awareness on HIV/AIDS and its prevention. With your support, we believe that proceeds collected from the campaign will greatly benefit this cause,” he added.
The sales of the red ribbons are done in collaboration with Brunei Press Sdn Bhd.
According to a statement, the red ribbon is used as a symbol of awareness and solidarity to people living with HIV/AIDS. Several organisations, such as the Red Ribbon Foundation, use the red ribbon as a symbol of the fight against AIDS.
