THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) yesterday held its RBPF Charity Golf Tournament in conjunction with the 93rd Police Day at the Golf Lodge at its headquarters in Gadong.
The guest of honour was the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), Dato Paduka Seri Awang Bahrin bin Mohd Noor. In attendance was the Acting Assistant Commissioner of the RBPF, ACP Hj Mohd Don bin Hj Harith, as well as the directors of departments, other law enforcement agencies, commanding officers, senior staff and representatives of Brunei’s golf clubs.
The tournament was divided into three categories: VIP, Individual and Team.
The event began with a thanksgiving prayer followed by welcoming remarks from the Acting Chairperson of RBPF’s Golf Section, Senior Superintendent Pg Mohd Jefri bin Pg Hj Abd Hamid. He stated that the event was held in line with a number of activities conducted in conjunction with the RBPF’s anniversary.
Lieutenant Colonel Zahrin bin Haji Zunaidi from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces won the VIP Category with a score of 82, L/CPL Asmawi Ismail from RBPF ‘A’ won the Individual Category with a score of 73 and Team RBPF ‘A’ comprising Dato Paduka Seri Bahrin, Sergeant Morshidi, CPL Jumat and L/CPL Asmawi won the Team Category with a score of 236.
The event was aimed at collecting funds for orphans of officers who have passed away and lower-ranking officers.
“The charity event and fund collection can lessen the afflictions faced by the orphans that have lost someone they depended on. The police force hopes that they will be able to enjoy the same joy we experience while playing golf today,” said the acting chairperson.
The donations were handed over to the guest of honour followed by the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the event’s sponsors and the presentation of trophies and prizes.
