THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) yesterday conducted a blood donation drive at the Police Training Centre Multipurpose Hall, RBPF Headquarters in Gadong. The drive was in conjunction with the 94th Police Day celebration and it was in collaboration with the Blood Donation Centre (BDC), Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital, Ministry of Health.
The campaign, which was held throughout the day, received an encouraging response from the police officers and personnel.
Deputy Chairman of the RBPF Blood Donation Drive Committee, ASP Mohammad Mezudy Afril bin Mohd Mazlan, explained that the campaign was part of their annual activities in commemorating the celebration and fulfilling RBPF’s social obligation in providing assistance to those in need of blood.
The campaign was also aimed at assisting Blood Donation Centre to increase its blood stock, he added.
It is estimated that the centre uses 30 to 45 pints of blood daily to treat leukemia and thalassaemia patients, for operations, emergency treatments and many more.
Twenty-two pints of blood were collected.
In conjunction with the celebration, RBPF plans to organise the blood donation campaign in the four districts according to their respective venues and stations.
Members of the public are also invited to participate in the charitable drive.
