THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) held a special prayer last night to commemorate the 94th Anniversary of its establishment which falls on January 1 at the Surau of the Police Headquarters in Gadong.
The guest of honour at the event was Dato Paduka Seri Awang Bahrin bin Mohd Noor, the Commissioner of Police. Also present was DCP Hj Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam, the Deputy Commissioner.
The ceremony began with a mass Maghrib prayer followed by the recitation of Surah Yassin, Tahlil, a special prayer for the milestone occasion and a Thanksgiving prayer.
The congregation concluded the ceremony with a mass Isyak prayer.
RBPF has been keeping law and order since 1921 making it the longest governmental agency in Brunei, although the history of the police force dates back to as early as 1906. Among the mandate for the RBPF includes the prevention, detection and investigation of crime; collection of criminal intelligence, traffic control; escort duties; sea and border patrol; and public order.
