ROYAL Brunei Catering Sdn Bhd (RBC) yesterday organised a cooking class for its corporate clients in conjunction with the Malaysia Food Festival 2014 that is ongoing until November 11 at Dynasty Restaurant located at The Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong.
Celebrity Chef from Malaysia, Chef Kamarul Hasni Che Rose, was exclusively invited for the festival to exchange knowledge with RBC’s chefs and will be in Brunei until November 4 with his assistant.
Chef Kamarul, 38, has over 20 years of experience in the culinary world and at present, he is in the final year of his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) course from Griffith University, Australia, where he obtained his Masters Degree in International Tourism and Hospitality Management in 2004. Whereas, in 2000, he completed the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Food Service Management course from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia.
Apart from his cooking and studies, he has also been featured in several TV shows. He is currently popular for his Baba’s Cubits episodes on TV3 which gained an average rating of one million viewers for each episode.
Cubits is a sponsored programme by Baba’s and it is a new Malaysian-concept cooking programme filmed in high-definition resolution.
The cooking class that took place for two hours with about 20 people attending was led by Chef Kamarul in which he demonstrated a number of delicacies from Perak, namely the ‘Ayam Merah Vanggae Ipoh’ and ‘Nasi Briyani Udang Teluk Intan’.
The Malaysia Food Festival 2014 is open daily during the promotional period and will serve lunch from 11am to 2pm and dinner from 6pm to 10pm except for Fridays when it will serve dinner only.
Throughout the festival, RBC will be serving exclusive Malaysian dishes on a four-rotation cycle both for lunch and dinner.
During the promotional period, dine-in customers will automatically be entitled to a lucky draw provided they leave their name and contact number on the dining receipt at the restaurant.
The grand prize for the lucky draw will be two return air tickets, three days and two nights to Kuala Lumpur inclusive of accommodation sponsored by Tourism Malaysia. The second prize will be one return air ticket to Kuala Lumpur by Royal Brunei Airlines and the third prize will be one RBC voucher worth $200.
