IT WAS an entertaining evening at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) base at the Bolkiah Garrison as the RBAF Marching Band comprising 74 band members including those from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) as well as the Serunai and Tambur 2nd and 3rd Battalion held a preview of their performance scheduled for the Kuala Lumpur International Tattoo 2014.
Jointly organised by the Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism and the Malaysia Armed Forces, this year’s International Tattoo in Kuala Lumpur is held in commemoration of both the Visit Malaysia 2014 and Malaysia’s 57th Independence Day.
This will be the second participation from the RBAF Marching Band in this particular event, with the first being in 2007 in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2007 and Malaysia’s 50th Independence Day.
Present to oversee the preview performance was RBAF Commander Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah.
Families of band members also gathered to cheer on the band members throughout the performance.
Led by Leftenan Md Idrus bin Haji Awang, Acting Director of the RBAF Marching Band, the marching troops gave it their all and managed to intrigue crowds at the fully-occupied grandstand with their renditions of several globally popular songs and those in line with the Malaysia’s Independence Day celebrations.
The Kuala Lumpur International Tattoo 2014 will be held at the Merdeka Stadium in Kuala Lumpur from October 10-12 and will see participation from several international Armed Forces Marching Bands, including Brunei.
The team of 74 marching troops will be scheduled to leave for Malaysia on October 6 and is expected to return on October 14 this year.
