A DELEGATION yesterday left for Moscow, Russia, to represent Brunei Darussalam in the ‘15th International Tilawah Al-Quran Competition’ which will commence on September 18.
Muhammad bin Ali, a student from the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB), is representing Brunei Darussalam in the three-day long competition. He is accompanied by Haji Abdullah bin Haji Lakim, a senior qari.
In an interview, Haji Haslin bin Haji Mohd Noor, the Acting Senior Religious Officer, Islamic Syiar Development Division and head of the delegation, said, “This is the second time Brunei is sending a representative for the international Tilawah Al-Quran in Moscow and our representative will be participating in the Tilawah category.”
“Through the competition and international exposure, it is hoped that our representative will be able to find and gain new experiences as well as to enhance the reading of Al-Quran and share it with other local qari and qariah,” he added.
He also told the Bulletin that the preparations for the Tilawah Al-Quran competition started after the month of Ramadhan with the help of selected senior qari.
The sending off ceremony was concluded with a recitation of Doa Selamat led by the head of delegation.
