QAF FC advanced to the last four of the DST FA Cup following a 2-1 quarter-final victory over MS PDB at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last night.
Goals from Mushready bin Chuchu and Hardi Anak Bujang put QAF in the driver’s seat but Mohd Bohari bin Mohd Hasan’s 71-minute long distance free-kick made matters interesting.
QAF’s progress to the semi-finals will be welcomed by the players and management as well as supporters alike having endured a trying season in the DST Premier League.
Both teams were reduced to 10 men after goal-scorer Mushready and Abdul Faliq Akmal bin Musa were given their marching orders for professional fouls.
MS PDB looked the likely side to score in the second half but QAF kept their concentration and successively repelled their threat on numerous occasions.
The police side could have snatched a leveller had a goal-bound effort by Mohd Syarafuddin Hamdi bin Hj Talip but it was cleared off the line by a QAF defender.
MS PDB also had a header that flew wide as they stepped up their efforts to go back into level terms.
The DST FA Cup quarter-final bouts continue tonight with Wijaya FC taking on DST Super League champions Indera SC and Najip FC meeting LLRC FT.
