THE Malaysian Citizens Association (PWM) will be organising the annual Chinese New Year Gala Night on March 7 at the Manggis Mall Ballroom.
Members of the public are welcomed to celebrate with Malaysians at the event that will feature dance performances by students of Chung Hwa Middle School, BSB. Local rising singer, Annabelle Pei Pei, will also add flavour to the Gala Night.
The highlight of the celebration will be the distribution of Student Academic Excellence Awards for Malaysian students who have achieved excellent results in 2014 while residing and attending schools in Brunei Darussalam. Recipients will get a certificate of recognition and a red packet to honour their efforts in their studies.
This is an annual event for PWM to help Malaysian government’s aspiration and efforts in emphasising the importance of education and professional pursuits.
Students who are eligible for the award can download the application form from the PWM website at www.pwm.com.bn and deliver the completed form to Traders Inn, Block D, Lot 11620, Jalan Gadong, Bandar Seri Begawan. The closing date for application is February 14.
“To date, up to 70 per cent of the tickets have been sold out and we hope to accommodate around 300 people including the students who will be receiving the awards,” said Raymond Ting, chairman of the organising committee.
Malaysians residing in the country and members of the public who are interested to join the Gala Night may purchase one of the following tickets based on table colours: Classic, Silver and Gold.
Throughout the night, guests will stand a chance to win 27 red packets and three grand prizes of return air tickets. The first grand prize will be a Business Class air ticket from Brunei to Kuala Lumpur; second will be Economy Class from Brunei to Singapore; and the third will be Economy Class from Brunei to Kota Kinabalu.
The Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Datuk Awang Sahak bin Awang Salleh, is expected to be present at the event.
