THE Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) received students and community members of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah
Al-Hajjah Maryam, on Thursday.
The students, who were accompanied by their volunteers and teachers, were briefed on the functions and activities of the fire station.
The briefing was conducted by the Public Relations Officer of Operation ‘C’ AB177, Pg Mustain bin Pg Hj Azahari and ASO Abd Mazid bin Mohammad.
The trip gave students the opportunity to understand the skills required in dealing with fire emergencies and the duties of a fireman.
A fireman also demonstrated how a fire is put out and the safety precautions they take.
Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, a non-profit and a non-governmental organisation, provides quality education, training and rehabilitation services to individuals with special needs in the country.
The centre caters to a diverse population of special needs – Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), down syndrome, visual impairment, cerebral palsy, hearing impairment and other developmental disorders.
The NGO has more than 150 students registered with its Bengkurong branch and 53 students with its Kuala Belait branch.
Pusat Ehsan is dependent on public donations and fundraising events to keep its programmes running.
