THE Minister of Development last night praised the Association of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) for their great contribution to the development of professional engineers, architects and surveyors in Brunei Darussalam.
Speaking at the 30th anniversary dinner of PUJA, Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman called on PUJA to contribute to the capacity building of Bruneians.
“To build our local capacity to meet the needs of engineers, architects and surveyors in (industries such as oil and gas, and construction) in Brunei, PUJA needs to come up with training and mentoring schemes for young, budding professionals,” he said.
According to the minister, PUJA should also step up efforts to attract more members from other industries, such as oil and gas, and not just from construction.
By having more professionals from various industries in Brunei, this would strengthen PUJA’s resources and capacity in nation building, he said.
The minister urged PUJA members to work towards achieving the goals of Brunei Vision 2035 – to have a well-educated and highly skilled workforce, a dynamic and sustainable economy and a high quality of life for the people of Brunei.
