FOLLOWING the heavy rains and flooding in some areas, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has advised the public to take precautionary measures to avoid injuries and risk of vector-based diseases such as diarrhoea and dengue.
Among the measures and actions that can be taken include ensuring and maintaining a clean water supply, drinking cooked or bottled water, cook food items properly, exercise self-hygiene especially by washing hands with clean water and antiseptic soap prior to preparing food and after going to the toilet as well as to keep living areas clean by preventing the accumulation of trash and other waste materials.
The public should also seek treatment if they experience fever, stomachache, diarrhoea or vomiting. For patients suffering from chronic diseases, they should ensure adequate supply of medicines. Stagnant pools of water should also be monitored as they could become mosquito breeding areas.
For further enquires, the public can contact the Ministry of Health’s hotline at 145 or e-mail email@example.com.
