A 45-YEAR-OLD Indian national facing murder and attempted murder charges is still undergoing psychiatric evaluation, prompting the Bandar Magistrate’s Court to fix further mention for January 21.
Sekar Appavu was ordered by Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal PD Kefli yesterday to be further remanded.
Sekar is alleged to have murdered 45-year-old Rajendran Kumarasami and attempted to murder 40-year-old Pazhanivelu Sivalinkam at about 12.30pm on December 20 at Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s Green House, Jalan Tungku Link, Gadong.
The penalty for murder is death whilst attempt of murder is punishable by imprisonment of up to 20 years and a fine and may be liable to imprisonment for life if hurt is caused to the victim in the attempt.
