THE Department of Labour is investigating the death of a construction worker who was crushed by an excavator at a construction site in Jangsak.
The department said it will take action against any responsible party.
As the enforcer of the Workplace Safety and Health Order 2009, the department has conducted an initial investigation, which included interviewing the supervisor and workers at the site.
The department is assisted in the probe by other government agencies such as the Safety Unit from the Public Works Department and the Occupational Health Division, Ministry of Health.
The department said it will take serious action against any companies or organisations, including employers, and employees, who do not adhere to the Workplace Safety and Health Order.
The department can issue a “Remedial Order” or a “Stop Work Order” in case of rule violations.
The department reminded construction companies to ensure that they have a safety and health management system in place.
